Job Title: Shopkeeper

Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time (37.5 – 40.0 hours per week)
Contract: Permanent – subject to 3-month probation

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Shopkeeper to oversee daily operations of our boutique, maintain high service standards, and ensure smooth coordination of staff, inventory, and sales activities. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, organised, and capable of managing both retail floor operations and back-office administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage day-to-day retail operations, including opening/closing duties and cash handling.
  • Maintain optimal stock levels by forecasting demand, placing timely orders, and inspecting merchandise upon delivery.
  • Provide detailed product guidance to customers and support staff to ensure an excellent shopping experience.
  • Coordinate staff rotas, training, and supervision to maintain performance standards.
  • Manage financial records, supplier invoices, and assist with pricing and promotional strategies.
  • Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Ensure in-store presentation and visual merchandising align with brand standards and seasonal themes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a retail management or shop supervisory role.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational and numeracy skills for stock and financial management.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends when required.
  • Good understanding of retail operations, stock control, and merchandising principles.
